Motu Move NZ Explained: The National Ticketing Solution Brand

‘Motu Move’ has been chosen as the public brand for the National Ticketing Solution (NTS), a partnership between NZTA and 13 Public Transport Authorities.

The brand will complement local transport brands like Metro, Metlink, and AT without replacing them.

Motu Move focuses on payment and ticketing, while regional brands will continue providing transport services. Customers will have access to a Motu Move website, app, contact centre, and a new prepaid card.

The rollout begins in Canterbury in late 2024, introducing new, uniform payment methods across Aoteoroa New Zealand, including contactless payments with debit/credit cards, mobile phones, smartwatches, and the new prepaid card.

These improvements aim to make public transport easier to use, reduce the need for prepaid cards, and cut road congestion, all while offering better technology at lower costs and enhancing public transport services and choices for New Zealanders.
